L’America,anzi le Americhene i suoi compositori più rappresentativi: il pianista Allan Manhas inizia il suo viaggio con un’operazione davvero singolare, l’arrangiamento pianistico di cinque Preludi per chitarra di Heitor Villa-Lobos, nella versione di José Viera Brandao. Di solito avviene il contrario, che la chitarra «traduce» per le sei corde sonorità di altri strumenti, e la versione per pianoforte della musica del compositore brasiliano suscita una certa, molto gradevole, sorpresa. Ma qui c’è anchemoltoaltro, ad esempio con i Preludios Encadenados di Manuel Ponce, in cui il risultato è una sorta di Sonata in vari movimenti, superando appunto la forma del Preludio; una parte fondamentale è l’interpretazione di Allan Manhas dei dodici Preludi Americani di Alberto Ginastera, con gustosi omaggi a grandi personaggi della musica come Juan José Castro e soprattutto ad Aaron Copland, in un affresco dai vividi colori.
